Guest guest
Question everybody, Are the 2-year-molars the same as the first molars or are they a second set of molars? I'm seeing something on the back of Tommy's jaw that looks like it might be a molar but I can't be sure since he hates having his mouth looked at. He was a really early teether anyway and had all the rest of his teeth by his first B-day (unlike his twin who is just NOW cutting his last 4 canines and is totally miserable). Tommy is really blase' about cutting teeth, I never know when one's about to pop through (again, unlike Gavin, poor baby). SO, if anybody knows if he gets more than the 4 molars he already has I would appreciate input! Thanks, Jill Ramos
Guest guest
Jill, The two-year molars are a second set of molars. I thought that had all of his molars, but at his 18-month appointment, his ped looked at his teeth and said he had all but his two-year molars, of which he said should be appearing soon. didn't cut any teeth until eight months, and when he did, it was the first four initial teeth all at once. Sounds like a horror story, but like your son, 's never had issues with teething, as far as I know anyway! The only indication I ever have that he's getting teeth is just a little more drool than normal. But he never even makes a peep or acts fussy about it. I don't even think he's ever really used a teething toy. We've had them and he just never used them! Kellie
Guest guest
I read a tip somewhere that you can use Tylenol AND Ibuprofin for teething....you alternate each, and give a dose every three hours...Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Tylenol, Ibuprofen...the three hour span means the medicine doesn't wear off before the next dose is given, since it takes about 45 minutes to start working. Guest guest
Hey Jill, The 2-yr-molars are a second set of molars, and when they come in, Tommy should have 20 teeth. My was an early teether and, like Tommy, had all her other teeth by her birthday, and started to get the 2-yr-molars right around 15 months, finishing around 18 months. Just and FYI, this set of molars took forever to come all the way in, and was miserable. That's what poor Gavin has to look forward to. My twins are very different teethers also. Sara is cutting molars already, and Sam is just cutting his 5th tooth. We're going through Tylenol like it's going out of style! Guest guest
I was told that the two year molars usually come in at 2.5yo. I felt like a fool when at Olivia's 2 yo check up, I said " She has her 2 year molars. " Of course they were no where to be found! LOL! Olivia had all of hers at 2 years and 4 months. She had the other 16 teeth at 15 months. Isn't it funny how you would think drs. would agree on something as simple as this (when 2 yr molars start coming in)?! I guess it is all up to interpretation. No wonder they are all over the board with plagio! LOL! I never know when to believe my dr. anymore! BTW- Olivia just crushed her juice box. She brought it to me and said " It's your fault Momma. " > Jill, > > The two-year molars are a second set of molars. Guest guest
Gail - Olivia was miserable with all her teeth, except her molars! Isn't that weird? I would think those would have hurt the worst. I know what you mean about using all that Tylenol, except with us it's Ibuprofen . I pull out the big stuff since it last longer and is an anti-inflammatory. My Grandma still tells me to put whiskey on the gums! I couldn't imagine having twins teething at the same time. Not fun! I think I'd be hitting the whiskey! Dane's mom DOC Grad > Hey Jill, > The 2-yr-molars are a second set of molars, and when they come in, Tommy should have 20 teeth. Guest guest
We use them together during the hellacious times. Our ped said just don't give them at the same time. Tylenol every 4 hours and IB every 6. It works very well!
