Guest guest
Thanks . You know, I always get those stupid things and your first impulse is to say, "Oh my god,I must let everyone I know know." But then you start thinking, Hmm, how come I never heard about that on the news? This reminds me of when that Blair Witch movie came out. I had totally believed that it was true until I started doing research on the internet. But when it first was coming out, this girl I know was all going crazy and saying, "Oh, I remember hearing about that on the news back in '94 when it happened." She felt really stupid later on. : ) Thanks for looking that up! Kellie
Guest guest
Kellie, Yeah, but you know, these things are actually quite possible- so of course it sounds true- I was so worried about the kid in K-Mart that was abducted and brought into the bathroom, cut her hair, dyed it, and it turned out to be a hoax- ever since then I check stuff out on www.urbandlegends.com! But, it does keep you on your toes- I'm glad to hear they are hoaxes, but I still read them because you just never know!! I would have never checked a ball pit, but I think I'll start (the one at Chuckee Cheese is small for the little ones), just a quick hand through or something. I will die if I see puke and feces! I always thought they were germ carriers but never thought about a sicko putting something in there, or even the extent of the germs like vomit and lice!!!! EEEEWWWWWW! Guest guest
, So true. If nothing else, at least it makes us more aware of our children's surroundings. I will have to check out that website. I always go to hoaxbusters.ciac.org. But I had never seen this hoax yet. My favorite one is the one about stealing the guy's kidneys and leaving him in a bathtub of ice with a note to call 911 now! I was so amazed when I found out the Neiman Marcus cookie recipe email was a hoax too! Kellie

Guest guest
I believe the best inernet source for debunking these types of urban legends is http://www.snopes.com This story is nicely detailed at: http://www.snopes.com/horrors/parental/archer.htm I did like this variation on the story: Another " death in the ball pit " legend circulates on the Internet, this one about a tot who fatally encounters a nest of baby rattlesnakes lurking beneath the balls. It too is false.
Guest guest
I worked at a Chuck E. Cheese about 10 years ago, and unless things have REALLY changed, they are pretty anal about keeping the kids sections safe and clean since even 1 complaint would have them shut down and fined a LOT of money! Now if only we could see that type of attitude at gas station restrooms... Guest guest
We took Olivia to the ball pit at Chuck last September. It smelled like urine. We took her into the bathroom to clean her up and left. Dane was born the next day!
