Guest guest
Hi everybody, Sorry I've not been around much at all but it has become impossible to be online whenever Mackenzie is up & moving about...she has learned to climb the rungs of the chair at the computer desk to sit on my lap and then wants to bang on the keyboard. Since that isn't very conducive to being online, my time has been really curtailed! Anyway, my question is this - we have been lucky with our timing in getting Mackenzie into the band but I'm wondering if our time is running out that it will be useful...the front right portion of her band where the growth is supposed to be curtailed to allow for growth in the flat spots is now completely flat and pressed against her head. It is so pressed against her head that it does leave a red mark but the red mark subsides within the hour so our orthotist isn't concerned as of yet. However, is it normal for an orthotist to be able to shave a bit of the inside of the band where growth is to be curtailed to allow for more time for growth in the other areas? Is that what I should expect to have happen when we go in for an adjustment appt on Tuesday? or should I expect Mackenzie to be out of her band very soon? We had been told that she's doing so well that she won't be in it the complete 4-5 months expected but should be out of it before 4 months is up (which is September 24th). I hope this made sense and I apologize if it does not but hope somebody can help with the question. Thanks, (mom to Mackenzie) Phoenix, AZ
Guest guest
: So good to hear from you again. It sounds like Mackenzie is keeping you very very very busy! Those first several mos after your baby learns to walk are exhausting! I remember those days and am very happy they have now past! LOL. Although, I certainly wouldn't say it gets any easier, just different! hehe. Anyhow, I would think the orthotist could definitely shave away the area of the band you have described. I don't know why they wouldn't, especially if it is leaving red marks & is too tight. There's still pad in that area right? It sounds like Mackenzie's head is rounding nicely! I'm so happy to hear that, I remember you were a bit concerned in the beginning seems she is a bit older. That's GREAT! Good luck at Tuesday's appt., please let us know how it goes.
