Guest guest
Driving home from work today I was listening to a story on NPR about a young woman diagnosed with a serious lung cancer (non-smoker) who completely recovered because of a medication. The cancer is gone. From her case it was discovered that a certain number of lung cancer patients have some sort of mutation that responds beautifully to this drug. Further research has led scientists to a test to determine who has this mutation. Those people can be spared the chemo and radiation. The young woman was interviewed about how it felt to be part of this breakthrough...a cool story, and a good reminder that medicine has a lot to offer. My mom has a huge fear of doctors and meds and her untreated RA is a scary sight to me. Sierra
