Guest guest
Ria: in " Beyond " on page 44, the biomarkers for bloodwork are discussed. In " Anti-Aging Plan " on page 39, Walford also discusses what the bloodwork revealed of the biospherans. Please tell us more about what Dr. Lee recommends for osteopenia. on 11/19/2002 11:28 AM, Ria Brownlow at riabrownlow@... wrote: > Thanks for the answers to my previous questions. Guest guest
Ria Brownlow asks: 1) Does anyone count protein grams? Sure do. Protein requirements are higher on CR. A reasonable approximation would be 1gm for 1lb of body weight. Food sources: low-fat cottage cheese, Quark, poultry and an occasional internal organ (liver is very nutritious, even Walford mentions it). Non-food would obviously be protein powder, which is cheaper than food. I use casein from http://www.proteinfactory.com/case.htm .. 3) Has anyone else read that the Atkins Diet causes bone loss? There’s no evidence that it does, only that it might. I wouldn’t suggest Atkins long term though it’s a good way to ease into CR. I suggest more of the Zone C:P:F ratios. If your goal is to “overcome bingeing totally, and have a consistent body weight of about 110 lbs” then I suspect that you will fail. However, if your goal will change to wanting a healthier, longer life, and CR would merely become a method of achieving this (as opposed to being a goal in itself) then you will definitely lose weight, and possibly get rid of the binging. I failed miserably in my attempts, that is until I decided that health is the goal, and not weight. HTH Micky.

Guest guest
I haven't posted much here, usually to sick to make it downstairs to even read, but when I do, I catch up. As I've posted before, I've been in my very first and very active flare-up since mid October of last year. I've been on multi doses of predinosone along with plaquenil, hydrocodone, effexor, and celebrex, but have yet to come out of this first time, long flare. I just went back to my rheumy yesterday, and he's added even more medications. I'm back on the predinosone, and all the others above, but he has added methatrexate(sp), and folic acid. I am currently taking 19 pills a day. Is this normal? I know I have to rely on his advice and knowledge, but geeze, I've felt terrible since this stuff started, and at the first hint of it getting better, it's back as bad as it was before. I've already had a long history with depression anyway, but it is so much worse than ever before with all this going on too. Has anybody else here started out or gone on this long with no relief? And how do you even begin to come out of the depression of all of this. Along with getting fired from my job for being sick, and continueing to get sicker and not being able to get another job, I am at my wits end. I thank god every day for my husband and his insurance, but I hate the fact that my children are taking care of me and I'm no better off than I was when this started. I dunno, I'm just at the breaking point here.
