Have there been examples of people getting a second band when the

Hi ,

My son is 9 and a half months and today was our first visit to the doc for 's head and we were fitted for a band. The doc said to me that at 9-10 months there certainly won't be as much improvement as a younger child but he had done it in the past and has seem quite a bit of improvement. We went so late thanks to my "WONDERFUL PEDIATRICIAN" and I say that completely sarcastically! Urggggg! Lots of luck!!

is about to graduate from his band in a week. He'll have been

in it from 5-8.5 months. All of his measurements are about 2mm of

asymmetry so we got major improvement, but when I look at him from

the front, the one side still seems to stick out quite a bit more

then the other.

Have there been examples of people getting a second band when the

head is fairly close to symmetrical and the baby is 9months or

older? Were the results good, or not worth the effort?

Thanks,

... ' dad

My daughter Skye had two bands - she started in her first band at

almost 7.5 months of age and at 10 months she needed another - she

was in this until she was 1 year old. The second band made all the

difference. She had what her specialist classed as severe

plahiocephaly. Ultimately it is your decision and I am sure you will

do what is best for your and your son

wore his first DOCband from 9.5 months thru 13 months and went

into his second band at 14 months and wore it for an additional 3.5

months. He had significant facial asymmetry starting which was

still quite noticeable going into his second band. His measurements

going into the second band were cva 7mm, facial 3mm, and ears 6mm

which was quite an improvement from where he started. He finished

with everything in the 2's and 1's. The second band made a

noticeable difference in his facial asymmetry and you can't even see

the asymmetry anymore. He finished with about 95 percent

improvement overall. He was considered in the grey area for a

second band by his plastic surgeon but because two of the

measurements were over 6mm off they covered the second band without

a problem.

,

Just a quick post to you- don't have any experience with a second band, but I

have read countless posts from parents who have gotten a second band, many

even after the 1 year mark, that were thrilled that they went for it. I know

that at 9 months, can still achieve correction. Good luck with your

decision, weigh all the pros and cons and whatever is best for , I'm sure

you'll go with- your a great Dad!

It's so good to hear from you again, even better to hear such a great

update. I'm glad improved so much in his band! That's terrific.

If you feel could benefit from a 2nd band some more, then go for

it. Esp. if your ins. would cover it & money would not be an issue.

My Abby didn't get her first DOCband til she was almost one yr old,

and it still improved her assymetries.

Good luck with the difficult decision, please let us know what you

decide to do.
