Guest guest
I went to both. I got my first script for the band through a neuro. Then waited for my appointment with the cranial doc which was scheduled for only two days later so I did get opinions from both. They pretty much both said the same thing but the cranial doc was more knowledgeable about the head. Good Luck to you!! aTARAa s Welcome to my World! Guest guest
, We went to Dr. Day at Medical City of Dallas. It's about a mile from CT. From southbound 75 Central Expressway you take the Forest Lane exit (just south of IH635) and it's right there. Officially he specializes in medical genetics and dysmorphology, but he is the Medical Director of the Dallas Craniofacial Center and usually evaluates all the patients before they are sent to a craniofacial surgeon (Dr. Genecov). Dr. Genecov is very reputable in this area as well, but he might be a little harder to get into for an appt. Dr. Day ordered all the xrays to rule out cranio and then diagnosed my twins with mild tort and moderate/severe plagio. He's fairly easy to get into - I called on February 21st and our appointment was on the 27th. We probably could have gotten in sooner, but I wanted to schedule around my husbands lunch hour so he could go with me the first time. Dr. Day is very familiar with the insurance companies and he can tell you a lot about coverage. He also doesn't hesitate to write a prescription for a DOC band if that's what you want. My babies were only 4 months old when we first saw him, and he let us decide if we wanted to go ahead and band or try to reposition a little longer. We chose to band, but struggled with the insurance appeal vs pay out of pocket issue for over a month before we actually banded. Thank goodness we didn't wait any longer for insurance or we would still not be banded (the twins are nearly 11 months old now). Let me know if you need a phone number and good luck with your crusade. Guest guest
Hey , Your insurance will determine whether you need a referral or not. I had to have a referral to see Dr. Day and I have an HMO. Gail Re: cranialfacial or pd. neuro/gail/everyone Hey Tara, Thanks for replying. Yep, I did. I got a referral for both the neurologist and the cranial doc. When I called to make appointments for both docs, they pushed me months ahead. I was furious, not to mention the fact that my son is almost ten months old to begin with. At this point, everyday matter for him right now. So I landed having my pediatrician call there offices and she got me in with both docs with a two-three week time period. I wish you luck. Hope things work out well for your little peanut! aTARAa s Welcome to my World!
