Guest guest
Cranial Technologies, along with Logan's PT have always stressed tummy time. Even after I told them that Logan could sit and liked it, they still said I needed to do more tummy time. One PT explained to me that at this age, this is the only time they will be working their arm, shoulder and back muscles. Once they start to walk, they don't do "push ups" anymore. One PT told me that she was seeing a lot of "out of shape" babies who didn't have the arm strength they needed. I was a bit skeptical, but I followed their advice. Logan is GREAT at tummy time now, and HATED it before. He rolls, stretches, pushes himself up. Most of his awake time is on his tummy (and now rolling.) My sister-in-laws 8 year old took a physical fitness test at school, and what do you know? He scored 0 in the "arm strength" dept. Now this is a big, strong kid. She read a recent article in Newsweek that talked about how babies aren't getting enough tummy time and the light bulb went off. Philip hardly ever had any awake tummy time when he was a baby. What all the articles and PT's say is true! Babies really DO need tummy time! Now I am soooo glad that we stuck with it. -/Logan 7 months (DOC band 2 weeks)
