Cole will be 10 months on Sept. 20. Oh that's great! See you said Cole has been in his band since June. I kept asking his doc about it and should would brush me off. Until finally I demanded to go in and see someone about it. Once I demanded to see someone, then all of the sudden she said "Oh well I think your right. He certainly doesn't have some flattening" HELLO!!!! This is what I was saying all along. I just don't understand some of these doctors. Now he's gonna be 10 months old and I could have already been dealing with this and getting it over with. Why does your son have the flattening? She seems to think It is just because hasn't figured out how to sit up yet or roll over and he puts his weight on his head a lot during the day? Which is what brings me to the neurologist that I am seeing in the morning. Boy do I hope that's all it is. Some of the possibility's that I've gotten from people are scaring me to death. Well, I can't Thank You enough for replying to my post. I am so happy that I have found other people that are going through the same thing. It's so very helpful. Thanks a bunch and I hope to hear from you soon. Lots of luck with your little man! :0) aTARAa s Welcome to my World!
Guest guest
I'm learning that now that my situation is all to common. It's sad but true. I'm really starting to question my pediatrician which isn't something I am happy about. I have had here for over four years now,(For my oldest son) and I have grown to like her, but in the same note, I wondering if she is too passive. Does that make any sense? Depending on my results with all the docs we are gonna see this week I suppose it will determine if I am right. I'm glad to have found this place so that I can talk to other people that are going through the same thing. I guess tomorrow may be the first step in a long journey for us. But, like any other Mom would, I will do whatever is best for my little man! Thanks Again. I'm sure we'll be chatting a lot over the next few months! :0) aTARAa s Welcome to my World! Guest guest
WOW!!!!! Debbie, the warm welcomes I am getting are just amazing. Thank You so much! I am a member of the AOL infertility board as I've done infertility treatments to conceive both my sons. That board has been a life saver for me in times of ups and downs! The woman I have met there are just amazing and have truly become my friends. I have ventured over to other boards here and there through out my time with AOL and I have never felt as comfortable anywhere else as I do on my infertility board. I have to say though that the responses that I have gotten today from a few of the people on this board have made me feel so good. Not like I'm an outcast or something. This seems like it's a really friendly place and I'm very glad I found it today. THANK YOU! ;0) Tara aTARAa s Welcome to my World!

Guest guest
I am glad you mentioned about Dane not rolling until his tort was nearly resolved. I am going crazy over here because just turned 5 months and has not even rolled to one side yet. She was dx with tort at 4 months and we are currently awaiting her PT to begin. It makes me feel better when I hear other parents going through the same thing. Taryn 's mom Re: New to all of this. Tara-How old is your son? My son was a little behind some of the kids his age due to torticollis (tight neck muscle). He didn't roll over until it was nearly resolved. Dane wore his DOC Band from 5-8 months with fantastic results. It never bothered him. There is some excessive sweating the first few days, but you can help that by removing the band every couple of hours and drying it and the head off. He actually slept better with the band on. The week it came off, he started waking through the night again! It really is quite a painless thing for most children. The only thing that ever upset Dane was the casting.Good luck on Thursday. I just know that people can be cruel and was hoping that for the most part people understand. Tara, For the most part, we didn't encounter anything more than stares and a few comments- most people would be nice if I seemed happy enough to smile at them and engage them with conversation. It can be stressful, if you let it become that, but if you keep the right frame of mind, keep it all in perspective that this is somewhat trivial to what other parents are faced with, you won't even notice the stares and if you do, take it with a grain of salt and know that your a great parent for getting the help your son needs. We're here for you, some of us have been there done that, and some are currently going through the motions, while others are waiting for the journey to begin- a collective group that can help you on all levels!! Good luck and keep us posted! ' Mom
Guest guest
Taryn, Try rolling as an exercise from side to side yourself- this will let her know that life does exist on that tort side, and perhaps she can gain better balance with you sitting her between your legs, rocking from her cheek to cheek. Just a thought! ' Mom
Guest guest
Thanks for the advice. My mom had her on her side the other day and she would roll onto her tummy from this. I will definitely start doing this more often. Taryn 's mom Re: Re: New to all of this. Guest guest
Thanks for all the great ideas....I am happy to report also that since we have been doing home stretches her tilt is getting almost to the point where it's very unnoticeable but she still rotates her head. All this and we haven't even begun formal PT. I think would have a blast with the burrito exercise!!! Taryn 's mom Re: New to all of this. Taryn-We finally got Dane to roll by wrapping him up in a towel like a burrito, then unraveling him. He thought it was so fun and was rolling on his own within a few days. KKR gave us lots exercises that were fun for him.You also can just lay in the middle of a towel and lift one end up. This will force her to roll the other way.Dane's mom DOC Grad> Taryn,> Try rolling as an exercise from side to side yourself- this will let > her know that life does exist on that tort side, and perhaps she can gain > better balance with you sitting her between your legs, rocking from her cheek > to cheek.
