Dear Joni,

I feel such compassion for you!!! This dis-ease is a bitch at times. I don't have the answer about the MX and why you are in such pain and the questions you asked but I will say a prayer for you dear girl.

You have a right to your pain and a right to express yourself and a right to cry if you want to. May God send his healing and comforting Angels to be at your side and to give you a feeling of love.

I was dealing with a sinus infection myself with dizziness and nausea. I called 911 a couple of weeks ago I was so dizzy and sickish. I cut back on Mobic, zantac and my supplements. The horrid feelings went away, but then I got into severe pain in my hands, wrists, arm, neck and upper back. Back on my meds and I started to feel better.

I also stopped eating my Dannon yogurt every day, as I am allergic to dairy and that probably triggered it off.

For sinus infection, I use a nasal irrigation and fill it with warm filtered water and kosher salt and baking soda.

For UTI's I see the doctor, but I also take liquid herbs for the kidneys and bladder. I get that at the health store and follow the directions on the bottle. They are combo herbs in one bottle specifically for that and they do work for me. I drink lots of water too.

Let me know how you are doing.

Love, Eva

Hi all,

I am usually a lurker on the group and felt like my RA (diagnosed in Jan

03) was pretty much under control with the meds I was taking. That is,

until about a week and a half ago, when I developed a sinus infection and a

UTI and was down for 4 days feeling generally awful. Of course, I had to

quit taking my methotrexate and Arava because of the infection and being on

antibiotics. I get to start the mx again tomorrow but have been having

extreme pain in my arms again for the last few nights, making sleep very

difficult. I am hoping the mx will kick back in again pretty quickly, but

I'm not sure if that's the case as I haven't really had to be off of it for

this long in the past. I am also in the process of switching rheumys (I had

been driving almost 200 miles round trip) to a doctor that is closer. I

will see her next Tuesday, but my current rheumy does not want me to go

back on the Arava at all until after I see her. He wants her to decide if

she thinks that is what I should be taking. Anyway, I guess I just needed

to vent a little and to see if anyone here had any knowledge about how long

it might take for the mx to kick back in once I can start it again. I am

still taking Daypro, prednisone (10mg), and folic acid daily. Thanks for

listening to me complain--I think I need to go see " The Passion " again to

put my pain in perspective. Have a good day, all.

Joni

Hey Eva,

Thanks for the words of encouragement and the prayers, which I am

most definitely thankful for. I am still doing badly today but am

holding out for tomorrow and my appt. with the new rheumy. I have

confidence that she will be able to help me get this back under

control. It is just hard to play the waiting game once again.

I'm sorry you had been sick as well. Hope you are doing better now.

This disease does stink but I am grateful that my RA is not as bad as

some I see on here and that it has been fairly under control until

just lately. That does mean there is always hope.

I will say a prayer for you also and hope that we both feel good real

soon!!

Blessings,

Joni

Hi Joni,

May God be with you and your new Rheumy and I hope that she can help you to feel better. Sometimes a new perspective and new doc goes a long way.

I am thinking of changing doctors myself. I have a feeling that my Rheumy is not going to be supportive when and if I apply for social security disability. His remarks in that area are not very encouraging.

For some reason the pain and swelling in my hands and wrists have subsided (thank God) but now I am having horrid pain in the sciatic nerve and/or periformis muscle. The pain goes all the way down my right hip in the calf, which is a burning pain. I've stretched, iced, moist heat, and been to the chiropractor and have had no relief. I went to the Relax the Back store today and bought a memory foam cushion and back support for my car to see if that helps. The only thing left for me is an injection of steroids in my low back to get relief. I have an emergency appointment with the Rheumy tomorrow morning.

We are all here to help each other with our cross to bear in this lifetime and give each other encouragement and support.

Please Take Care and let me/us know how you are doing.

Love Eva
