Guest guest
Wow Dana, you really hung in there! Now sit back and breathe! Good teacher, she seems understanding and great she wanted to help him work through it! Hope he's beginning to feel better (which I guess he is if he wants a friend over!). -- In , " Dana " <dzazinski@...> wrote: > > Thank goodness for this place; it's the only one where I can safely > vent and I know everyone here will get it. > > DS (9) had been on a med change from Risperdol to Abilify, and it > clearly wasn't working that well and he had been in a downward
Guest guest
Just from my son's experience, risperdal is very sedating and abilify was like a course of electricity going thru his body. I know they're both antipsychotics, but they work very differently. My friend works for a pediatrician and the inhaler is a problem for most kids. The doctor she works for gives the kids a mask of some sort because it's difficult for kids (and some adults) to get the timing right when doing an inhaler. My dad had Parkinsons and couldn't use the inhaler so they gave him nebulizer treatments. There are more than one way to skin a cat. ~ On Jan 19, 2008, at 11:13 AM, Dana wrote: > Thank goodness for this place; it's the only one where I can safely > vent and I know everyone here will get it. > > DS (9) had been on a med change from Risperdol to Abilify, and it > clearly wasn't working that well and he had been in a downward spiral > of obsessive thoughts, generally short-tempered. Guest guest
Little medical update...DS felt a little better over the weekend but was kind of being a tantrum-y pill, went to school Tuesday and I got ANOTHER call from the school nurse. Raging double ear infection. So he got Amoxicillin and was really nervous about going to school Wednesday. ( " What if my ear hurts? What if I can't hear? " ) But after the crazy morning struggle, he went. At 1 pm I got ANOTHER call from the school nurse...his EARDRUM burst. Back to the doctor, etc. Guess who doesn't want to EVER go back to school? Guest guest
Oh Dana, that's horrible what all he's going through but I had to laugh. I don't blame him! Hope the black cloud over him/school clears up with the amoxicillin! > > Little medical update...DS felt a little better over the weekend but > was kind of being a tantrum-y pill, went to school Tuesday and I got > ANOTHER call from the school nurse.
