Older Child- Grad from DOC Band!

Just wanted to share with you all, and to hopefully help anyone out

there who has an older child and is debating Band Treatment. Our son

Reid graduated from his DOC Band Treatment today! He was fitted for

his band at 19 months after a few agonizing weeks deciding if we

should do it or not- not sure if it would help at all at his age,

would he accept it? We, like many other parents had taken our ped's

advice at 4 months and 'let it shape out on its own'. At 18mos we

just were questioning if we had done the right thing. Why did we

wait so long?? We just kept going back to our ped's advice, and we

were seeing it round out some, so it was kind of encouraging.

However, the flat spot was still visible to US.. so began our

journey that led us to Cranial Tech. To make a very long story short-

Reid LOVED his band and we did see some very noticeable correction.

He wore it 4.5 months- he will be 2 in October. He actually grew out

of it, and we realize we were lucky, because Reid did hit a growth

spurt, but we never would have known if we hadn't tried it!! The Ped.

Neurosurgeon said it looks like 75-80% correction to him. We are

so happy with the results. Good luck to anyone out there that may

read this and find it helpful!

WOW !

You just made my day. My daughter also has a DOCband. She is out of

it for the next month due to a bacterial infection. She gets recasted

on the 20th. So she'll be out of her band for a month! :-(

She'll be 14 months and one week old when she finally gets back into

her band. You've given me some more hope that, she'll get some good

correction! Thanks so much for sharing!

wow

Kayleigh was 19 months when we got in to see a Neuro SUrgeon and was

diagnosed with moderate to severe plagio. We opted not to get her

banded cause at that age they had never done it and didn't know - but

because her fontenel was still open we could have.

It hasn't rounded out much more - with her longer thick hair it isn't

noticeable, but when her hair gets wet it looks like a piece of her

head is missing.

Now after hearing your story I am regretting not doing it - that you

had great success - she is 26 months now and it is far too late now.

That is just awesome news - I love hearing good stories

Congradulations to little Reid! It's SO nice hearing success stories

like Reid's as well as VERY encouraging to other parents who are just

beginning or debating this band process with their older child.

It sounds like Reid got great correction! I'm SO happy for you!

Thanks for posting this - I'm sure you've helped many parents :)

That is so fantastic! Aren't you so glad you listened

to yourself and did it? I love to hear these stories

- it helps to affirm that I have made the right

decision with Vivian -she is 10 months and will be

getting her band next Friday.

Congrats and thanks for sharing.

What great news! You must be thrilled!

I remember when Reid started, you had such a great attitude,

thinking any correction was better than none. I bet you never

dreamed you would have such success.

Congratulations Reid! Way to grow!

Congratulations, I'm so happy that Reid got so much correction. It

gives me so much hope for my little one, Novali. As you might know,

she started treatment at 15 months and has been in her STARband for 2

1/2 months now. The doctor's say they see some improvement but I

don't really see it. I just pray that she will have some noticeable

correction by the time her treatment is finished. Once again,

congrats!
