Guest guest
Marci, that sounds soo terrible! It's a good thing doesn't remember what happen...is doing alright now with her legs?? I got to give you credit...You're one brave mom, Marci. > , > > That does sound pretty terrible. You're right though, Delylah won't remember any of it. About one year ago was in the hospital with some undiagnosed infection. It caused her to be unable to walk so after two days of fever and almost no sleep and the lack of ability to put any weight on her legs they ordered a bone scan. It took four adults to hold her down perfectly still for about 10 MINUTES!!! It was horrible. She cried and cried. Then, to make matters worse, it didn't turn out right and we had to go back down AND DO IT AGAIN!!! Still, she had forgotten all about it by the time we got her back to her room. I guess it was kind of nice not to have her sedated, but it is torture to watch your baby cry and scream and have to help hold her down. I'm glad that part is over. I think the casting will be MUCH less traumatic then the scan. Hopefully the worst is behind you. > > Marci (Mom to ) > Oklahoma

Guest guest
, Yes, her legs were fine again after about 6 days. It ended up being a viral infection with toxic synavitis (not sure of the spelling). The virus is what made her so sick (she had a real high fever) and then a " toxin " attached the joints in her knees which is what caused her to be unable to walk. I was so thankful that that was all it ended up being. It just went away on its own. That was how they were able to give me the final diagnosis. Until it went away on its own they really weren't 100% sure what it was. That was a long 3 day hospital stay since she slept only in very small spurts and the only way she seemed comfortable was to be in her stroller or in the wagon they had there. So my mom and I took turns pushing her around and around the pediatric wing and the maternity ward. I can't even tell you how many miles we walked at ALL hours of the night and day! When she finally started walking again I think I was more happy for that then I was when she first learned to walk! It was an ordeal I hope never to repeat.
