Guest guest
Barbara, Great news on the upcoming graduation- I can't believe how fast the time has gone by! The exit cast is really a personal decision to make. We didn't have it done for a few reasons, he had already been casted twice (first mold broke in transit- hence the humpty dumpty jokes with me and Debbie!lol), and we felt the results were quite obvious and didn't want him to go through it a third time. I wouldn't say I have regretted my decision, but at times I have thought maybe he was regressing, but then the next day I have also felt like its gotten rounder- the eyes still play tricks on you after graduation! I don't know that an exit cast would have made me feel different anyway since I have heard some moms were a little dissapointed with the exit mold, but others glad they did it. If you feel you need to see concrete evidence of change, go for it. If you just want a before and after view, go for it. If you feel you need closure, don't see obvious results, whatever your reasoning, you'll make the right decision for you and Sofia. It is pretty quickly over, but I know what you mean with going through it again- that was part of how we made our decision as well. So glad that this is almost all behind you know- DOC grad and tort free!!!! Great job Mom! Please post some pics of the cutie soon! Guest guest
We had an exit cast and played through the whole thing-and trust me he screamed enough for all of our kids for the initial so you never know. Do what you are comfortable with. Graduation is right around the corner-good job mommy and Sofia. Cant wait to see those pictures! beck
Guest guest
Sofia got her DOC band on July 18th (6 months old)and CT told us yesterday that she is done after her last visit on the 17th of September. We are so happy and lucky to be done so soon (2 months). They want to do an exit cast. Has anybody had one done. We don't know if we should have one done. She cried so much while she was being casted for her band. Would appreciate any advise. Thank you Barbara (Sofia & Catalina)
Guest guest
Barbara - We had one done. I have mixed feelings about it. You get a good view of the progress he received from an aerial view and you can really see how well the bossing on his forehead improved, BUT, it's like the bottom part of it was off kilter. It looks like he had a gobstopper in his cheek and his head is kind of twisted towards the bottom. It looks worse than the original in that respect. I wanted to take it to his 12 month well visit next week to show the dr. b/f and after. I think I will leave it in the closet. It doesn't reflect the great progress he made. Guest guest
Barbara: WOW, just 2 mos total time in her band?! That's wonderful. I " m so happy things went so well for little Sofia! We did have an exit casting done, they are nice to get done if you worry about regression (re flattening) post graduation. Ultimately though, the decision is entirely up to you! Can't wait til she's an official grad! Guest guest
Sam and Sara both had exit casts done. Sara's was even filmed for a TV story. They did fine. In fact, I'd say they did better than the first time around. Because they were older, they were more responsive to the things I did to comfort them, and I knew what to expect and didn't have the nervous vibes to pass on to them. I wanted the casts done in case I had any questions about regression down the road. I think the casts are more accurate than photographs. Do what you think is best for Sophia and everything will work out fine. Gail, Sam and Sara's mom, DOC grads Sofia graduating from her band / exit cast? Guest guest
If you are getting a DOC Band, the exit is included in the price. The price might seem steep to some, but it is inclusive to anything you would need with that specific band. As much as I bothered them, I feel we got off easy with our bill Dane's mom DOC Grad > > Sam and Sara both had exit casts done. Sara's was even filmed for > a TV story. They did fine.
