Guest guest
Hi Everyone Well Skye's surgery is over and she came home the same day - she was so good before the surgery even though she couldn't eat or drink anything. Well this is what happened........... The surgeon had a look around and Skye had an awful lot of fluid in her ears, the Dr. said that there was so much and that it was so thick that they were worried about bursting her eardrums when the were taking it out - but that didn't happen of course. They put grommets (tubes) in her ears and we will have regular checks to see how she is going. The Dr. also said that he would be surprised if she was hearing anything other than fuzzy noises due to the amount of fluid in her ears, so that would explain her lack of speech for her age, but not her inability to walk yet. She woke up from the anaesthetic quite distressed and it took ages to calm her down. She is quite happy now though - two days later, and already her speech is clearer. She says Daddy very clearly (but not mummy at all) and TIGGER very clearly so things are definately on the improve. Thanks to all of you who sent yours best wishes to us. And as for , well things have not really changed, I am still trying to come to terms with the fact that he has Autistic Spectrum Disorder (as well as the ADHD which complicates things even more) but I am blessed because he is the most loving big brother a little sister could ask for. Kind Regards nna Skye's mum Brisbane Australia
Guest guest
I am so glad to hear Skye's surgery went well. My nephew had the exact same problem with chronic ear infections and fluid buildup and since he has had tubes his speech has definitely shown so much improvement. Before he was grunt at things and make noises and how he actually says words. It's amazing the difference. I hope she continues to improve and do keep us posted.
