Hi & welcome to our group:

Do you know what type of helmet Lucas has? STARband, DOCband or a

locally made helmet?

It is pretty common for helmets/bands to be fit rather loosely in the

beginning. They leave it a bit loose to allow room for the head to

grow into the helmet. Usually after a week or 2, the head will grow

into it & fit better. Especially with Lucas being so young, I'm sure

his head will grow into it rather quickly.

That's great he's tolerating it so well already! I'm sure his head

is rounding as we " speak " !

Please keep us updated on his progress. Best of luck.

Dear Debbie,

Thanks so much for your reply. I guess Lucas has a locally

made helmet (Hangers in NYC), reading the messages on

support group, it is the first time I hear about STARband

and DOCband. Are they supposed to be better?

I will keep you updated on Lucas' situtation.

Anne-Sophie:

We've heard of the Hanger band in here before, we've had several

members whose baby has used the " hanger band " .

The STARband made by Orthomerica & DOCband made by Cranial

Technologies are the most common plagio bands used.

The key to success in any of these products, is a trained and/or

experienced orthotist. That's the most important thing in getting

success with the product. As long as you feel comfortable with your

orthotist, that is terrific.

Is Lucas' helmet open on top? Like a band? Or is it an entire helmet?
