Guest guest
Your story is all too familiar here on this board! Here is a link to preferred physicians. There is one in Tuscon. Otherwise I would suggest getting on the cancellation list at the neurologist. It is not too late to get good correction at 12 months. You can call Cranial Technologies and get a free evaluation. http://www.cranialtech.com/clinic/az2.html You also can check out plagiocephaly.org and CAPPSkids.org Dane's mom DOC Grad > Hello, > I am new to this group but was wondering if anyone else has had the > same problems my husband and I have had with our son. Guest guest
HI & welcome to our group! Yes, yes , yes, your story is unfortunately all too common. SO many pediatricians dismiss plagio as " no big deal " by giving parents the " don't worry, it'll round on it's own " story, or " hair will cover it " or my favorite " nobody's head is perfectly round " . I was lucky enough to have a terrific ped who promptly noticed my daughter's plagio at just her 2 week chk up. But for the most part, your pediatrician is just one of many out there who play plagio off as nothing to worry about. What a great mom you are though to be doing all this research on your own. I am not familiar with your area, but I do know that the Cranial Technologies corporate headquarters is in Tempe, AZ and they have a clinic is Phoenix AZ - the Phoenix # is 800-689-3402, and their headquarters in Tempe is 866-DOC-BAND. Perhaps they could point you in the direction of a plagio friendly Dr.. Is Tempe or Phoenix near Tucson? (Hope so!). Sorry to hear you have such a long wait for the specialist, this too though is common. I would request to be put on a cancellation list, so that if any appt cancels between now & when your appt is, they could call you & have you take that appt.. Again, I am so sorry to hear of another idiot pediatrician. It is really so frustrating reading stories like yours time & time again, but you are doing a great job! Good luck - please keep us posted. Guest guest
Hello and welcome to our group! Your story sounds so very similiar to my own. My son will be one year on the 23rd and he was just cast for his band on Aug 31. We finally got the prescription by asking Cranial Tech for the name of a pediatrician in our area that had referred to them. You may have to be very specific - like naming out lying areas - subburbs around the main city. When we first asked for a dr. in our area, they told us they didn't know anyone. Then, thanks to someone here, we learned that there was a ped in one of the subburbs who had referred to them. I don't think the people at CT realized the subburb the doc was in, was part of the city I live in!! Good luck to you and please let us know how it goes! Guest guest
That's ridiculous that your pediatrician isn't current with something that is so common. I hope you have good luck finding a new pediatrician. You should try calling around yourself and maybe set up an interview with them to discuss it with them. I live in Arizona, but I'm up in sdale, so I can't really help to that extent. Best wishes, Tina & Chase, 10 months (mild plagio and tort)
