Hi!! Sorry I have not kept you guys all up to date. The boys and I have had a horrendous cold's this past week and we all felt miserable. Also they were coming to do the PT, OT, and speech evaluations so I was kept hopping with those.

On Tuesday of last week I took the band off and he had a red spot that didn't go away until 4 days later, a sore where there used to be a red spot, and his head was peeling all over. Yikes!!! I was so frustrated we had only had it a week and he had to quit wearing it till we could get back in the orthotist. Since the evaluations were scheduled for Weds and Thursday, I had to wait to go till Friday.

So he was out of the band for 4 days basically, although he probably would have had to stay out that long until the red spot went away.

We left here at 6:30 am arrived in OKC at about 12, got gas, went to the appt, stopped to eat at Sonic, and got home at 7pm. I thought I would die of exhaustion. I didn't want to have to stay in a hotel and which would have been really difficult because I had both boys. I went to the bathroom one time at the orthotists office, I couldn't leave them in the car and Lucas still has to be held. On the way home Caleb woke up form his nap and was screaming at the top of his lungs. I finally had to pull over and hold him for about 20 minutes until he was calmed down. I was so embarrassed, 4 different motorists stopped to see if we were okay. They all thought we had go car trouble. I was grateful that they stopped to see that we were okay, but I was humiliated to have to tell them why we stopped. Thankfully he got calmed down once I offered fruit gummies, that is the closet thing Caleb gets to candy so he was thrilled. I think I listened to the veggie tales CD 50,000 times. Now I have the songs stuck in my head...hahaha It was just plain exhausting.

Even with all that I was glad I went though. They think we may have hit Lucas at a growth spurt since he was getting so many red spots so soon. They fixed some things, trimmed around the ears and we were done.

Hopefully if we don't have any more problems in the mean time we go back on the 23 of Sep (I think that's the right date)

Lucas had somewhat of a tough time adjusting to the band again. He seems to hate it the most in bed. It is so hard for me to see him cry because of it, it just kills me.

Yes the smell is quite over powering, kind of knocks you off your feet. Bill, the orthotist was a little bit surprised Lucas was peeling so bad. He said he sees a lot of it in the winter but hardly any in the summer. I can't wait to see how bad it is in the winter. The orthotist mentioned that some moms had used lotion to keep their heads from peeling. I put Vaseline in his hair before I washed it and we will see if that helps. It seems too so far.

Well I had better figure out what my family will have for dinner. Take care. I manage to read all your emails, I just don't always get to reply, so anyway I do keep you all in my thoughts with all that you are facing.

Hi ,

this is Delylah's mother, it's been awhile since i got on also, so

i must have missed your intro. Wow!! a 5.5hr(?) drive & with your

sons!! You ARE brave!! I was wondering where you're from?? I'm here

in Fort SMith, Arkansas.

I hope that everything goes well with your son; it kind of scares

me bc my bb isn't banded yet & she is almost turning 8. I really

hope things will work out. Please keep us updated.

Wow :

I feel so bad for you traveling so far alone with 2 little boys :( I

had a hard enough time traveling with one kid & another adult to help

me.

Don't be the least bit embarrassed about pulling over to calm Caleb

down! I've done that plenty of times with Abby! Anything is better

than listening to a kid screaming their head off in the car, that can

drive a person insane FAST! That was awefully nice of all those

people to stop & offer you help! I guess there are some nice ppl

left in this world :)

That is good news Caleb has been growing. Do you think you can see

improvment? I'm sure you've been very frustrating with the red spots

& such, but if he's growing that'll explain that. I really hope he

gets used to sleeping in it better, I am sure it's hard to hear him

crying over it.

Well lets hope he hits more growth spurts but doesn't get any more

red spots before the 23rd.

Best of luck - glad you're all over your colds, yuk!

Keep us updated.

Yikes!! I am exhausted just by reading about your very loooooooooong

trip, I can't even imagine how tired you must have been! I hope

everyhting goes much, much smoother from here on out so that you

don't have to make that trip more times than is necessary!

To go totally way off topic here.... my mom's name is

too. I absolutely love that name! Do you always go by the full

name, or do you use a nickname? My mom goes by Betsy.
