Guest guest
We've had so much trouble with this-my then 9 yr old didn't know how to swallow pills when she had to start her meds and still does not like it. She choses to take 4 pills instead of 2 pills that are a bit larger. Her counselor put her pointer finger and thumb together to show my dd that that is how big your throat opening is and she actually dropped the pill through so my dd could see that it went through with no problem and the pill was much smaller. We then started with tic tacs, practicing how to swallow those, then we moved to something larger but I'm sorry I can't remember what I used. Lots of encouragement and rewards when she did it. I also taught my younger dd at the same time and my neice and nephew helped cheer her on. Good Luck-she still balks all the time at taking it and tells me it's going to get stuck or is stuck, etc. That's where it's good to fall back on putting my thumb and finger together and saying there is no way it could be stuck it's much smaller than your throat. good luck Dawn G.
