Guest guest
My husband ,, and me are the proud parents of ph. He is a sweet, happy 3 1/2 year old boy that wasdiagnosed with autism last year. We have recently returned from a class at the Option Institute in Sheffield, MA. There we learned how to begin our son on a journey called the Son-Rise Program. This program is a child centered, nonjudgemental approach to engage and motivate our son to reach his full potential. The core of the program is working with ph in a specially designed playroom that we have built in our home. Why I am writing you is because we are looking for several volunteers to help work with our son in his playroom. The most important qualifications are energy, excitement, and enthusiasm. The volunteer will spend 2 hours, once or twice a week, in the room " playing " . The more theatrical and over the top, the better. Autistic children are born with no ability to socially interact. This program teaches social interaction by making the volunteer the most interesting, user friendly thing in the room. We will provide training and ongoing feedback. I think that this would be an excellent opportunity for you. Not only would you be able to hone your skills, but you would also be helping to enrich the life of a very special boy. Please feel free to write back or call us at 678-513-0975. We live in Cumming. Thank you for your consideration.
