Another idea about stretching that our PT told us last week...she said to hold toys above 's head and move them to make her look back. She said you get a good stretch then and she is also doing it herself so no complaining.

To Gerri - tricks during stretching

Hi Gerri,I am familiar with the tilt stretch and Ems hated that one too. My main trick is that I spend a lot of time with her on the floor. Pretty much all day we are on the floor together so she doesn't think that the minute she is on the floor she is going to get stretched. I do A LOT of raspberries and kissies. I just constantly say "kissy kissy kissy" and kiss all over her chest and cheeks. This gets Ems laughing and then I start to lift her shoulders and keep laughing and playing with her. When she is used to me lifting and "tugging" at her then I do the stretch. I usually hold her head in my hand so it is off of the floor and not getting rubbed or uncomfortable. It's a LOT of preparation to get to the stretch but it seems to work. Don't give up!! absolutely HATED me touching her head or doing stretches so eventually it will work. I find that the minute I stop being goofy she catches on to what I'm doing so practice being a clown whenever you can!! :) & (6 months, banded 8/26/02)> > had is first PT appointment today.
