Guest guest
Hey everyone: I'm hoping someone can give me some tips on how to handle moving with a toddler, as far as how to help them adjust with their new house & environment. I'm just so nervous as to how Abby will adjust to her new home we'll be moving into next week. She really does adapt to new people & places really well, but I'm still nervous. She's 2.5 yrs old. The poor kid, we're leaving for FL Friday morning, coming home late Sun night. She'll be staying with my dad (which she's stayed there many other times, but not for 4 nights!), then we'll pick her up Mon morning for a few hrs., then leave her again to go close on our house, then leave her again Tues morning to go close on our new house!!!! Then spend the rest of the wk packing & moving. I just feel so bad about it all happening at once! We'll be staying our first night at the new house next Sat night. We've brought her there several times to get her acquainted with the house some, and what happens? She gets stung by a mean bee in the back yard " bug bited me " ...poor thing! Anyhow, if anyone has moved with a toddler, please give me some hope here! I am just so worried about her & her move, it's gotta be so confusing to a little tike like her! Thanks. Guest guest
Hi Debbie, We moved here when my oldest was 3. I too was worried, how she would handle it. What I did to make it easier for her was to unpack her room first. This way she had all of " her stuff " around her. I think it made her feel more comfortable. We also decorated her room the way she wanted it. I let her decide where to put what. She only cared where her doll house went. (I was very happy about that!) When her room was done, we made a really big deal about it. She was so excited she had me call my sisters and my parents and ask them to come over to see her new room! She even slept in there our first night here. Good luck! > Hey everyone: > I'm hoping someone can give me some tips on how to handle moving with > a toddler, as far as how to help them adjust with their new house & > environment.
