Guest guest
Gerri- Most of us feel the same was as you! There isn't enough information out there about plagio. You have to really go searching. Does your daughter have torticollis (tight neck muscle)? My son did, so we had the same problems in regard to keeping his head to the right while sleeping - or in the car seat, etc. It can take over a month to see a specialist. If you think that is a route you might be taking after her 6 month well visit, I would suggest making the appt now. You can just cancel it next month if you don't need it. The younger they are, the faster the bands/helmets will work. I am only suggesting making the appointment now in the event that she would need a band. Then you wouldn't lose anymore time. Good luck with repositioning. It is hard and very frustrating at times, but can be very successful. Guest guest
Hi Gerri & welcome to our group! You've come to the right place for lots of repositioning tips & stories. I'm an old timer here, my daughter is 2.5 yrs old already & is a DOCband Graduate in 6/01. But your stubborn daughter's sleep habits sound identical to my Abby's. I tried & tried to keep her off her right side while she slept, but it was truly impossible w/her. That was over 2 yrs ago already though & since that time, they have come out with new helpful repositioning products. I'm sure some of our other repositioners in our group will give you some helpful tips. You can also check out our " files " section in the group - then " repositioning items " ...that will bring you to some product links & info. Also check out www.plagiocephaly.org/support then repositioning for other tips. You said your ped. wants to evaluate your daughter at her 6 mos chk up then see if she needs referral to a specialist. I would suggest to you , to ask your pediatrician for a referall right away, only becuz these speicalists often have at least a month's waiting period before they could get your daughter in for an appt.. And I'd hate to have you wait even longer to get into the specialist office, time is important here while dealing with plagio., so maybe you could call your peds office and inquire about this??? It won't hurt!! Has your ped. evaluated your daughter for torticollis? Can she hold her head straight ahead while awake? Welcome again to our group - please be srue to stick with us & keep us posted on your daughter's repositioning.....GOOD LUCK!
