Guest guest
Oh no.....please don't tell me she can regress. I don't know much about plagiocephaly but I just thought once she was done and better that was it. Help. Barbara (Sofia & Catalina)
Guest guest
Copied from Cranial Tech board. Maybe I can put some of your fears to rest. It is very rare for a child to regress. Out of 16,000 kids treated with a DOC Band, less than 1% have had any regression. Regression does not mean " return to orginial deformation " . In a small number of kids a small degree of re- flattening may occur. You are both right, age is not a good predicter of which children are at risk. It has happened to young infants as well as children over 12 months. Again, it is so rare, that physicians have been unable to say " why " or " who " is at risk. There does not at this point seem to be enough of these kids, to make any statistical conclusions regarding age. This is the reason an exit mold is so important. It is the only way we have an exact 3-dimensional medical model of what your child looks like when they finish treatment. If there is any question the child may be re-flattening, we can compare to the mold and give the physician factual evidence so he can then make a decision on what steps need to be taken next. Pictures and measurements are 2- dimensional and are truly not very helpful for a comparison in the event you feel your child may be re-flattening. I hope this is helpful. Guest guest
Barbara - Regression is rare. Your eyes tend to play tricks on you sometimes. When you spend so much time analyzing your kid's head, it's hard to stop. There will be days I think Dane looks great. The next day I might be a bit worried. He came out of his band at 8 months with his soft spot still quite large. I never even thought of regression until about a month ago. I freaked out for about a week. He's fine. I'm the one regressing! LOL! Dane's mom DOC Grad --- In Plagiocephaly@y..., " catasofia2002 " <catasofia2002@y...> wrote: > Oh no.....please don't tell me she can regress.
