Tension often can make pain worse...and there is nothing like the busy holiday period to drive the tension up in my household! Shopping, decorating, cooking...so much to do and so little time and $$$! Hopefully this will subside a little into the New Year....but remember to go easy on yourself for now. No one in your family is going to be the better for having you in agony trying to be super woman! I do hope that you are able to sort this all out and find a doctor who is a good match for you. I wonder about you saying that you will consult DrReeg as a second opinion. If he is your daughter's doctor, he most likely is a pediatric scoli specialist? I am sure can guide you to the right doctor...but may not really be what I would consider a qualified " second opinion " ...just more of a trusted advisor maybe! Guest guest Posted December 16, 2006 Report Share Posted December 16, 2006 Dr. Reeg also performs adult surgery. He is at the Center for Scoliosis and Spinal Surgery in Greenville. In previous discussions with him he has told me that he has performed revision surgeries in the past. I want to find out what was done, how many he has done, etc., and hope that he can direct me to the best revision surgeon for my case. Dr. Guirgues wants me to go to Dr. Murrey but I don't know much about him other than he is a candidate for SRS and I think I was told he performs about 50 revision surgeries a year. I think a lot of my problem may be a fibromyalgia flare up. I have had massages the past 2 Fridays and will see if it reduces the muscle pain. A lot of my pain is from muscle tightness. It also feels like something is pressing on my spine from the inside - like a constant feeling of being constipated but going to the bathroom doesn't relieve it! My husband is working in Alabama so I am alone. He is all upset and thinks everything will take place in the next few months. I tried to explain to him that it will be 2-3 months before I can get an appointment with Dr. Reeg, then another several months before I am able to meet with a revision specialist, etc. He is concerned about the financial impact because he has just gone back to work after being unemployed for 18 months. I told him if I could quit the full-time job at the doctor's office I think I could put surgery off for several years. However, I love the job and hate to quit! I could continue to do the job if I could take narcotics while I am working. On the weekends I take Percocet and manage fine.
