Guest guest
Hi- I have a new born 6 months and a 21 month old- my 21 month old is a doc grad- while waiting for the helmet we slept him on his side and he was safe- my 6 month old back belly and side with repositioners. SIDS ssys back to sleep I cant tell you what is safe and not safe becasue they recc. back sleeping and trust me with them both I am still up multiple times a night checking to see if they are breathing. If they are positioned well and he isnt going to end up falling on his face in his sleep or getting his nose and mouth into the repositioner I think you will be fine. that seems to be the biggest concern with the sids. I am so glad you are having luck with repo. Both of mine slept aon their sides all the time- they dont like back sleeping anyhow and slept better in the reposioners as well. It is scary but I think you are ok as long as their faces are free from obstruction. Beck
Guest guest
How does do during tummy time? Is he able to hold his head up well? If so, then I would think side sleeping would be fine. If for some reason he did roll onto his tummy, at least you know he can lift his head and turn it to the side to breathe. All 3 of my kids have spent time sleeping on their sides. I remember being very nervous at first, but after a while, I didn't think much of it. Gail, Sam and Sara's mom, DOC grads Side Sleeping I am new to the group and previously posted about whether it was too late to do repositioning on my four month old (his name is -- everyone always thinks it's his last name. Anyway, I have been aggresively repositioning for about a week now and have already noticed improvement, which is very encouraging. 's flat spot is on his ride hand side, and I have done everything possible to keep him off of it, and have had really good luck. My only problem is a night though because no matter what I do, he eventually ends up with his head turned to the right. The only way I call really prevent this is by lying him on his left side (with the help of a positioner) and letting him sleep in a side lying position. It actually works GREAT because he seems to sleep much better on his side than his back and plus it keeps him off of his flat spot. My only concern, however, is whether this is safe. I am a first time mom, and of course worried about SIDS b/c everything you read/hear, etc. says to put the baby on his back to sleep. Is anyone else out there using side sleeping? Is is safe? Thanks in advance. For more plagio info
