Guest guest
Hey I am glad mommy and amthew made it through casting- I am impressed you held it together brian screamed bloody murdered and I cried and cowered on the side lines while hubby held him down. The casting process is a real downer but so worth the end result- and essentially quick painless and forgotten quickly. I hope mathew got a special treat and mommy took a long relaxing bath tonight. When did they think his helmet would be ready? Please let us know so we can send positive thoughts your way. I know they have to give you positives and negatives but even judging from brian he really grew and changed alot between 12 months and now 20 months so I think you will see some good correction. We will pray for growth spurts and make him eat his veggies. You did great today mommy keep up the good work snuggle that head and give him lots of kisses! beck
Guest guest
Thanks for the encouraging words; casting is definitely not a fun process but it is now over with. They told me at Hanger Orthotics that it will take about 10 working days before the band comes back and we also got to pick out a cool-looking pattern to put on the band. The pattern is called " sky " and is dark blue with tiny little planets and stars and things on it. it kind of looks like outer space so I thought would like that. And I certainly hope that will have a good growth spurt like your son has had because I certainly don't want to think we're doing all of this for nothing. I will use your advice and feed him lots of fruits and vegetables and healthy foods and will pray for good head growth while he is wearing the band. This board is so helpful and it's great to know others are going through the same things as we are. Guest guest
Way to go and !!! You are definitely doing the right thing and I hope has great results. It is always so nice to see everyone being so positive on this board!!! You are all a big inspiration to me!!! Taryn 's mom Casting appointment today Happy Friday everyone,Just got back from my son 's appointment at Hanger Orthotics to get casted for his band. I must say, it was fairly traumatic, both for me and for . I held it together pretty well, but felt so bad for , especially when they kept putting those pieces of plaster around his head. He just cried and cried and I know it wasn't because it hurt but just because he was scared. I felt so bad for him but realize that is something that needs to be done. I just get so angry when I think of all the pediatricians who dismiss plagiocephaly as a legitimate problem and who say "Oh, his head will round out as he gets older". Give me a break, they are just so uninformed and leave it to the parents to do something about it. It was kind of discouraging because the man at the Orthotics place said that we might not get great results because of 's age (12 months, almost 13). We realize that he is older but know that each chlid is different and they grow differently so you can't generalize the results. I guess he was just trying to give me all the positives and negatives of banding but I have a feeling that will get great results with this band. Well, thanks for listening and I will post more when gets his actual helmet. & For more plagio info
Guest guest
, Well, at least you can say the hard part is over, even though it is soo hard to watch the process and hear your little one crying- but it is for a good cause. Do you have an active or passive helmet? can still get great correction for his age- there are plenty of members that started later and acheived results, so keep the faith. Let us know when the helmet arrives! ' Mom
