Guest guest
Gail!! That's such terrific news! I bet you were ecstatic when the ped. commented about how great they looked - see - it wasn't just wishful mommy thinking. Great job with your continued repoing, your kids are very lucky to have such a wonderful mom. It sounds like you have a terrific plagio friendly Dr who doesn't think you're a " nutty mom " - that is wonderful to hear for a change. Obviously, no luck with Cigna yet huh? What's the status there? Debbie Abby's mom DOCGrad MI > Hey, we graduated about 4 months ago, but I am proud to report that we are still rounding. I took the babies to the doctor today (they have ear infections - boo hoo) and the doc said, " wow, their heads look great! " Two months ago, at their 9 month well check, she said that Sam still looked flat to her, but not today. I had been thinking they looked better, but it felt so good to hear it from my pediatrician. I am a perpetual repositioner. I even have the 3 carseats arranged in the van so that they tend to turn away from their formerly flat sides when they are looking at each other. Sam faces forward, Sara faces backwards, and is the key to getting them to turn their heads in a good direction. I'm just so happy that I had to share. > > As a side note, my pediatrician is now prescribing DOC bands herself instead of sending babies to a specialist. I think she is saving valuable time for these babies and it just confirms why I have been so happy since we switched to her. Oh wait, Cigna doesn't think a pediatrician is qualified to assess craniofacial deformities. Sorry for the sarcasm - I couldn't resist. > > Gail, Sam and Sara's mom, even rounder DOC grads
Guest guest
Debbie, Yes, I was and still am ecstatic! I have been so angry at Cigna for not paying for the bands, and I was blaming them for Sam not going into a 2nd band, but I'm way over that now. I love feeling his fuzzy hair and not having that ridge so noticeable on the back anymore! I always wondered when someone would say that the bones have "been encouraged to grow in the right direction" and if that was really possible, and now I think/know it is! And I also think that it is possible to reposition an 11 month old to some extent. The status on Cigna is unchanged, mostly due to our procrastination. My parents have been here, so we haven't had time to sit down and put together our next appeal for the employee benefits committee. They left this morning, so I'm hoping we can get started in the next few days. I really could use that money soon - all 3 kids have birthdays in October, then Halloween, and Christmas is just around the corner. I'll keep you posted if anything changes.
