Guest guest
Kristi- We (actually Guy) used the acrylic paints that come in little bottles. I didn't want to use the spray on stuff for fear it would get on the inside of the band. You can see some stroke marks, but we are not perfectionists! We (meaning Guy!) used those foam brushes and that helped considerably! The sealer was in a tube, I think. We have all this stuff upstairs somewhere! You should check out Dane's band. It had an airplane on the front and was carrying a banner that said " Place your ad here. " I would suggest just doing the bast coat then adding as you go. If you are having trouble with the NY or the stripes, see if you can get those things in stickers or rub on transfers that you can jsut apply over the paint and then seal that. You can get some more info here: http://www.plagiocephaly.org/support/decorate.htm Rub on transfer can be super cute too. We decorated Dane's band while he was working up to sleeping overnight in it. Then we did touchups when he would get a red spot (growth spurt) and had to be out of the band until we could get an adjustment. It took you so long to get the band, you don't want to miss a growth spurt! Happy decorating! Dane's mom DOC Grad > Well, > > Our decorating story seems to resemble one made not too long ago. Guest guest
I hear ya Kristi..I had a very similar experience. In the end Zack has stickers with a polyurethane top coat and it's held up well. I've seen others with nice painted helmets, but have no idea how they made it hold up. Having the name on the front (stickers) has been good for our stranger shy little boy..now strangers know his name, which freaks him out less. Of course he was Mr. Charming with the lovely young sales girl at Pottery Barn (after crying when an old lady said hi to him in the same mall trip). He really is his daddy's boy. Guest guest
Hi, Have you tried to spray paint the helmet. That is what I have done with my sons, and I let it dry overnight. It looks really nice, then I use rub on transfers, because I can just take them off with finger nail polish remover when they start to get scratched off. Good Luck, Heidi, mom to Jeffry 9 months, local helmet > Well, > > Our decorating story seems to resemble one made not too long ago. Guest guest
hasn't needed the band, repositioning is working for us but I do a lot of crafts Have any of you ladies tried Gesso as a base? Gesso comes in white or black. You would apply it to the band as an undercoat. It would give the paint something to stick to and help prevent peeling. You ladies do such a great job with decorating the bands! God Bless, Heidi mom to 6, 4, and 5 months (tort/plagio) > Well, > > Our decorating story seems to resemble one made not too long ago.
