My son has sensitive skin, so I know that would bother him. If the red spot isn't going away, I would leave the band off and call the ortho. You don't want the skin to break down. That could lead to an infection and cause more time out of the band. We used hydrocortisone cream on red spots that were caused by skin irritation.
