Since you are a valued customer that goes their often, you should have been cut some slack. Find another clinic! Pris Bored pig? ANY age pig can learn tricks and obedience the EASY way! Guest guest
I think what hurt the most was the way the person talked to me, like I was trying to pull something. The vulnerability that comes from not feeling well intensified the experience for me. But I know I have choices, and when I feel better I will explore them. Guest guest
Definitely find a new clinic... not only that, but call the current one and ask to speak to someone in management. Explain to them exactly why you will no longer be patronizing their business and why you'll also NOT be recommending them to anyone. One " excuse " ? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard in 10 years of too many doctors to count. Jenni
Guest guest
Sierra, I'm sorry you have had to use your " one excuse " . I wouldn't be happy having to pay for an appointment I couldn't keep. However, I do understand why they have the policy. If you had a 9:30 am appointment and cancelled that same morning, there is no way they could get someone else to fill your spot. Therefore, they have lost the income from that time slot. Yes it wasn't your fault, but it also wasn't their fault. I remember one time when I was at the Dentist. It was an afternoon appointment. The receptionist came in to the room and told the Dentist that so-and-so just called to say he couldn't make his appointment that was schedule in the next hour. The Dentist said " That makes 3 people who cancelled appointments today " . He wasn't happy because he lost income for 3 appointments in one day. Not only did he not get the income, but he still had to pay the office staff for those 3 hours, rent, electricity, etc. It would make sense for a Dr. to make an exception for patients he's been seeing for years. If I were a Dr and I had a patient who hadn't missed an appointment in years, I wouldn't change them for a last- minute cancellation. However, if I had someone who cancelled frequently, I would charge. The one-excuse policy is a common policy where I live. If your practioner won't give you an exception, I hope you can find one who allows last minute cancellations. I know you couldn't help the fact you weren't able to make the appointment. Good luck! Guest guest
Thanks for your thoughts, Jean. I do understand their point of view. Guest guest
The doctor I used to work for would charge for the appointment if the cancellation were an hour or less before the appointment. Many times there are people who call in and ask for the "first available" appointment in case there is a cancellation.
