Guest guest
Hi all! Last night I was clicking around and I happen to catch this show " Super surgery - saving babies " on the Discovery Health channel. I just love watching surgery shows, I have no clue why - I'm a wierdo. Did anyone see this? Anywhooo, the second story was about a baby that had cranio, and a new surgery that a Dr. couple (hubby and wife team)is doing at a hospital (I beleive it is in MA). In the traditional surg they sort of remove the top of the scalp & skull and break it apart and then re-shape and attach it back together with wires. In this new surg, they made two slits, separated the scalp from the bone underneath, quickly removed some bone with surgical scissors, and sewed up the slits. Bing Bang - it took 40 minutes and was so much less harsh on the baby. It was absolutely amazing to see this baby's head go from super narrow and long to almost boxy looking in 40 mintues. They don't even have to shave the head! Still had all of his hair! Sooooo amazing. The baby then had to wear a helmet for up to a year, it was a very thin, full helmet. He was such a cute baby, it was so nice to see his improvement. If anyone wants to catch it I'm sure it will be on again - or you can get info on the surgery on discoveryhealth.com. Guest guest
Wow, I didn't see it but I wish I did. We don't get the discover health channel, I tried to find it on their website but no luck. Nice to know they are finding better ways to correct it. Thanks Heidi > Hi all! > > Last night I was clicking around and I happen to catch this > show " Super surgery - saving babies " on the Discovery Health > channel.
