Guest guest Posted September 19, 2002 Report Share Posted September 19, 2002 Hi, I sent in my appeals package (2 lbs) via federal express priority to my insurance carrier Horizon BCBS of NJ. They signed for it on 8-22- 02 and I have called back once each week after that to check the status of our appeal. Each week I was told that it wasn't updated in their system yet and to call back the following week. Well, today makes it 30 days since they received my appeal. My contract with them says they will respond to appeals in 30 days from receipt of paperwork. I have left 5 messages for the manager and he has not returned my calls. I am faxing him a letter now (it took forever to get his fax number - they did not want to give it to me). I filed a complaint with the Dept. of Managed Care of NJ last week and they assigned a complaint investigator to our case. Today when I called BCBS they asked me if I had another package I could send them. I told them I had copies of everything. Apparently my package has gone to 4 different people but nobody knows where it is. Now they are walking around to all the desks to try and find my appeal. Is there anything else I can do?
