Repositioning just didn't seem to be working for us because of the tort. It was and still is a big struggle to keep him off the flat spot. is is daycare all day so I had no control there. I also found myself waking up in the middle of the night just to make sure he hadn't shifted to flat side. I wasn't willing to take the chance. Repositioning has worked for many people though. There are quite a few on this board. It's a tough decision, but once I made up my mind to go for the helmet I was suddenly able to sleep at night again knowing that we would have a solution.
