Guest guest
Side sleeping is safe. The reason they do not promote it is because babies might roll onto their bellies when sleeping on their side. So it is not concider as safe. However, A sleep positioner should prevent that. Check out this link for more information about SIDS. http://npin.org/library/1998/n00075/n00075.html I am worried about SIDS too; I have a friend who lost her baby this way. She has taken up the cause to help prevent SIDS. So I do not have bumper pads, no big blankets, and no toys in 's crib. What I did until she was 4 months of age was I put her in the side sleeper at a 45 deg angle. This forced her to either sleep with her head mid- line (where she had a protruding ridge) or to turn it away from the flat spot. Guest guest
Thanks for your great repositioning update! That's terrific you've already noticed improvement in just one week - keep up your great work! I see you've already gotten 3 great replies about your question if side sleepign is safe - my pediatrician told me it is fine to sleep your baby on their side, he told me it's not as safe as on their back, but is safe. I tried repoing my daughter with the side sleeper for a couple mos & she did fine with it (didn't help her head shape, *sigh*)......it sounds like is more comfy on his side too, so you're getting 2 good benefits from it, a good nights sleep & a rounder head! Please keep us updated on his progress. Also, is one of my favorite boy names - it reminds me of my all time favorite movie " Steel Magnolias " , that's what named her son - love it!
