this? should I take him back to the orthotist?

Cranial Technologies will use the DOC Bands up to 2 years old. So no...i don't think that dr is correct at all. Do you have a cranial technologies by you? I know that growth slows down after a year..but there are plenty of people who got good correction....and it's worth a try. Just my opinion..

No, it's NOT too late! Not by a long shot! My son started helmet therapy at exactly a year old and received decent treatment. He more than tolerated the helmet. Go see another doctor if you can. Where are you located? If possible, I would try to go to Cranial Technologies to see about a DOC band, since the DOC band is an agressive type treatment and will work better on an older baby than a passive helmet. My son had a passive helmet and we didn't get as great improvement as we could have with the DOC, but we live too far away from a clinic. There have been babies on this board banded long after 11 months. Cranial Technologies will band up to two years old, I believe. I am glad you found this board, because you have been seriously misinformed. I'm sure others on here can give you way more info, but I just wanted to stress that IT IS NOT TOO LATE!!!

I believe the closest is Chicago,I'm just outside of Indianapolis.

Would you be willing to go there for an evaluation? (I don't know how far away that is for you). But i know if you can get a prescription...cranial tech will definitely help and i'm pretty sure they will do a free evaluation!!

told it's too late for my son

I noticed a flat area at 2mos.old & was told by Ped it'll straighten out on its own.I started repositioning at tha time.At 5mos I req a referral w/a Neuro & he diagnosed Tort & told me to continue that repositioning. He retuned at 8mos (the area just above the nape had rounded out) & Neuro released him.I was still not happy with the way it looked.I took my 2yo into the orthotist for shoe inserts & mentioned Luke,he looked at his head(they make the helmets in the Indy area) & told me of a Neuro at Riley Childrens that had alot of experience. So,I took him there last month & he said that it is too late, that Luke won't tolerate a helmet now & he'll always have a flat area but his hair will cover it unless he wears it short or it's wet.Luke will be 11mos.old on 10/9.What do you think about all this? should I take him back to the orthotist? My insurance doesn't cover orthotics either way.For more plagio info

It is not too late for your son at all-that neuro doesn't know what he is talking about. Are you close to a CT or Orthoamercia clinic that you could get an evaluation. I would definitely get an evaluation from someone that does helmet therapy and see their opinion. Could you post some pictures of Luke? Check out these links!
