Guest guest
hi jennifer...glad to hear the pt is going so well! my daughter has tort also (mild i think), although for now (she's 5 mos) we are trying to do PT/repositioning ourselves until her 6 mos appt w/ her pedi, at which pt we'll re-evaluate if she needs a specialist. anyway, would you mind sharing some of the pt tricks you learned? right now we're not having as many problems with getting her to turn to the left, but the other stretch where her right ear needs to bend towards her right shoulder is really tough...she REALLY doesn't like those stretches at all, and therefore we don't do as many as we should. any hints/tricks with any types of stretches would be great!!! thx, gerri > had is first PT appointment today. Guest guest
Good for you...doing some stretches yourself. is 5 months next week and we made alot of progress with before he was officially diagnosed. We spent alot of time encouraging him to look toward the left (the tort is on the left side)with toys and such. Have you seen this website: http://www.orthoseek.com/articles/congenmt.html The carrying position in this is one they taught us today. It's real easy to do. It forces the right ear over to the right shoulder without them really realizing what's going on. Also....while carrying him up by your shoulder, on the left hip, have him face left and then press his head against my chest. This stretches both muscles on that side. Some other things...leaning his body while sitting so he is forced to pull his head straight. She was real concerned that he know what holding his head in the middle feels like. Hope some of this makes sense. I would highly recommend going to a PT if you can. It helps me SO much to know that someone is going to be checking his progress each week.....and making sure I'm doing things correctly. (s mom) Atlanta, GA > > had is first PT appointment today.
