Guest guest
Kristi, Yes, your supposed to leave the helmet off when your baby has a fever. I'm sorry that isn't feeling well. Please let us know how he's feeling in the am. > I know it has been asked before, but I couldn't find anything when > searching the archive: Am I supposed to leave the helmet off if > has a fever? > > TIA! > Kristi > (4) and (1yr Docbanded 9/14/02) > OH

Hope he feels better soon Debbie Abby's mom dOCGrad MI
Guest guest
Thanks . I figured as much, but just needed reassurance that I was doing the right thing. It feels sooo weird to put him to bed without it! I don't like seeing it sitting on the counter. I think he has an ear infection - he's been cranky, not sleeping well, and not eating much. We'll find out tomorrow so I'll be sure to update you! Thanks again! Guest guest
Thanks Debbie! I actually put him to bed without it before asking, just wanted to reassure myself that I was doing the right thing. It feels so weird to put him down without it and to see it sitting on the counter! Guest guest
Thanks Beck! I figured as much - just needed reassurance! I actually put him to bed without the helmet before I posted! I figured he'd be up in a few hours anyway so I could always put it back on if you guys told me otherwise! I think he has an ear infection - will be taking him to the doctor in the morning. What I want to know is: why do my kids always get sick and need to be taken to the doctor on the days that I am supposed to be a work? ALWAYS! Guest guest
Awww poor baby. I hate when they get sick but I REALLY hate when they get ear infections. It seems like no matter what you do.. you can't make them happy. I hate when I know one of my kids is in pain. I hope he feels better soon. Let us know what the doctor has to say. > > > I know it has been asked before, but I couldn't find anything > when > > > searching the archive: Am I supposed to leave the helmet off if > > > has a fever? > > > > > > TIA! > > > Kristi > > > (4) and (1yr Docbanded 9/14/02) > > > OH

Guest guest
Hi You are right that fevers and helmets don't mix as the helmet retains heat and could really cause a problem. I used to always take Lucia's helmet off for an increase in temperature however modest (even for a borderline fever) especially at night as I figured it could soar in the night and I wouldn't know about it. As for when it should go back on, as soon as the temperature has returned to normal is fine, but just keep an eye out in case it goes up again (or any medication you may have give wears off). As I said to someone else today, my daughter had a series of fevers throughout her treatment and I was really frustrated, but in the end she saw wonderful correction, it doesn't seem to make that much difference as long as the band is on the vast majority of the time. What with heat rash and fevers, it's a miracle they all do so well, but they do!!! Hannah (mum to Lucia, London, UK) Cranio grad > Okay what are the rules for helmet wearing with a > fever?
