Guest guest
My understanding of PANDAS is that, you're right, the treatment of OCD is the same: CBT and ERP. However, for some " lucky " kids, the OC symptoms can disappear or wane a lot after a few weeks; then appear again with a new infection. For some children, OCD does stay. I wondered about my son & PANDAS for a while just due to the sudden (seemingly) onset of OCD and his OCD does seem to get worse with a fever (from any cause) and did get really bad with one bout of strep. I never knew if he was sick right before it all began. But I haven't been able to tie it to that, even had them do bloodwork for the strep virus this past year or so after he'd been sick and OCD got much worse, but no sign of it. As you said, OCD is here anyway, we still have to treat it with therapy and/or meds. There are a few kids who have definite PANDAS that have been helped by staying on a low dose of antibiotics (anyone correct me if I'm wrong). I can see why you're thinking about PANDAS OCD. You can find a lot on it on the internet. There may be some info about it in the FILES section of our group also. You can also do a search through past posts archives for PANDAS. There's been many detailed posts before about bloodwork and PANDAS that might interest you. > > I have a question about PANDAS. Guest guest
Thanks for your reply. It helps to know I am understanding that the treatment would be the same either way. > > > > I have a question about PANDAS.
