Guest guest
I urge anyone struggling with this situation to visit Meredith Warshaw's Uniquely Gifted website, for parents of " twice exceptional " kids (aka gifted with learning and/or social-emotional-psych issues). http://www.uniquelygifted.org/ Consider subscribing to the 2e Newsletter: www.2enewsletter.com And don't miss the amazing, mind-boggling Hoagies Gifted page: http://www.hoagiesgifted.org/ FWIW (and I realize this is going OT but hopefully not into Annoying Land): my sister in law is the director of special ed for a large school district in Calif. She was the first person to suggest homeschooling to us, and my son was only 4 at the time. She knew very well what frustrations we'd be dealing with down the line, what with a child who was highly gifted but also rigid and non-comforming. I know homeschooling is a giant leap for most of us, it certainly was for me, but while it's no picnic, I am so glad someone gave us the push. If nothing else, it eliminates the unnecessary stress that all that red tape can bring. I can hardly say my son is the happiest kid on earth since we started homeschooling, but he is certainly far less stressed, and so are his folks. There are so many misconceptions about it (I know because I had them all!) but it can be a path to family harmony, or at least a stepping stone. cat > > > >
