My daughter was recently diagnosed with OCD, but when I read about PANDAS, it was kind of an AHA! moment for me, as the summer her emotional & changed behavior issues began (mostly about clothes and her ability to be disciplined), she also had a huge bout with strep throat most of that same summer. (In fact my husband and I have often referred to our daughter as " before and after " that time period, as she was like a different child). What I am wondering is if OCD brought on by strep is really any different than other OCD? I have noticed, and will be taking better care to keep track now, that symptoms seem to worsen when she is sick with an infection ( I have even gone so far as to wonder if her behavior is a reaction to antibiotics or something). However, from what I've read, it really doesn't change much of the core issues of OCD or the needed kinds of treatment, am I understanding that correctly?
