Guest guest
Hi all. I haven't been able to post too much lately. Seems like I have less and less time everyday. Anyhow, I was wondering. After graduating from the band what do you do to prevent the flattening from recurring? & (6 months, banded 8/26/02)
Guest guest
, Hopefully by the time has graduated, she will be sitting up more, if she hasn't started already. That will mean less time during the day that she would be on her back and more time sitting up. You can still reposition as much as possible, but as you know it gets harder when they are more active. I have been hanging around since I think March or April of 2001, and I can only recall one post with some regression, so I think its quite rare. If you reposition, encourage more time sitting up, or in an exersaucer, and caution not to put her on the back of her head as much as possible, I think will be just fine. My son graduated at 8 months and we feel now that he is 20 months, that he has continued to round out now that the DOC band helped direct growth the right way. Good luck with the process and don't worry! ' Mom
Guest guest
, I just want to chime in and let you know from my first hand experience that MORE rounding happens! I was really worried about both Sam and Sara when they graduated because neither was sitting up well yet and Sam was still quite flat. Even my pediatrician noticed last week that their heads look better, and I don't even hesitate to buzz cut Sam's hair. There is nothing to hide!!! It doesn't stop me from trying to reposition, though, and they are 11 months old now. I think that because you are so on top of things that will be fine! Go Mommy Go!!! Gail, Sam and Sara's mom, DOC grads Re: Question about post graduation - ,I didn't even consider the possibility of MORE rounding after the band. That makes sense and is good to hear I've definitely been working on trying to get Ems to sit up. She's a bit delayed in all of her gross motor skills but I'm starting to see some improvement day to day in her ability to balance and sit. I'm also trying to resolve her tort (the main problem that is making me concerned about regression), but I do have to say that since getting the band and starting stretching I'll find her sleeping with her head midline. That has been quite an accomplishment in itself!! & (6 months, banded 8/26/02)> ,> Hopefully by the time has graduated, she will be sitting up more, if > she hasn't started already.
