docband or helmet?

Hi again!

still very unsure of what to do. Our daughter is an identical twin but

because of the plagiocephaly of 9mm they look nothing alike. They

think she got squished up against my pelvic bone in utero and everyone

told me she would grow out of it- not happening!!

I feel like I am trying to search for the best way to get her to look

more like her identical twin sister. Our neurosurgeon doesn't think we

should do one thing to one twin and not the other, and thinks the

helmet- " NOPCO " won't make much of a difference than repositioning

alone, but also thinks that the DOC band is just hype. We asked for a

prescription regardless, but are still in a dilemma of which helmet to

use. the neurosurgeons and cranio-facial doctors at Boston Children's

Hospital all refer to the NOPCO helmet. Does it depend on where you

are in the country?

Sorry, lots of questions yet feel like I am racing against the clock.

but also thinks that the DOC band is just hype

Hi,

I don't know about the NOPCO helmet...but i can assure you that the DOC band is not just a hype. My son is 8 1/2 months old..and he wears the DOC Band. He started when he was almost 7 months old...and his head was very flat. He was already sitting up on his own for a while..and he was hardly on the back of his head for a while....and there was no improvement to his head at all. Now with the Doc Band...he's only been in it for a month and half...and there is so much improvement already. And he only has to wear it for maybe another 6 weeks. I am so happy i made the decision to band . I was pretty sure i would do it anyway...but i was not sure i was making the right decision...but now i know i did. Without banding him...i am positive he wouldn't have received any correction...and certainly not the amount he received. I believe this b/c like i said earlier..he had been off his back of his head for a while with no correction at all..but in such a short time with the band...there has been great correction. I'm not trying to convince you to get the Doc Band, i am just telling you my experience with it. I'm not sure about any of the other bands...so i can't give you my opinion on that.

I hope i have helped some....good luck with your decision...
