Cole update

Hi all,

I've not been around lately... I've been super busy at work. I did want to

update you on Cole's progress. He was out of his helmet for 2 days because

of a bad red spot. But he had an adjustment yesterday, and his skin looks

like it has healed, so he is back in the helmet today. The orthotist said

that he predicts Cole will be done around Thanksgiving. He has definitely

gotten much rounder (my husband thinks that Cole looks great and we should

just stop now), but I still see so much room for improvement. But his hair

is growing like crazy (anyone else think the helmet promotes hair

growth?!?!), which helps his head look more rounded too. I'll keep you

posted on Cole's graduation... I'm hoping for much more rounding in the next

couple of months!

Kia (mom to Cole, born 11/20/01, STARBand 06/18/02)

P.S. Sadly, my 3 month old niece has plagio. I saw her for the first time

at 2 months, and I immediately noticed the flat side (it was pretty mild,

but as a card carrying member of the " head-police " I spotted it

immediately). I mentioned it to my sister-in-law and told her about some

repositioning tips. I saw her again this week (a month had passed), and her

head looked much worse. Her forehead bulges on the flattened side, and her

ears are definitely out of alignment. She also has a high peak on the flat

side. I don't see any facial asymmetries yet. I told my sister-in-law that

her flattening was worse, and I emailed her some more repositioning tips.

Luckily, she isn't the type to offend easily. I just hope they take it

seriously and that she won't need a helmet (they have the same insurance we

do, and we are still fighting to have them pay... and they will not be able

to afford it out of pocket). I am determined too give her as much

information as possible, and I only wish someone had done the same for me

when Cole was only 3 months old!
