Guest guest
Hi Jenn, Nope, there not heavy at all! 6 oz for the DOCband and 6-8 oz for the STARband. I'm not sure about the locally made helmets. It is amazing how fast and how well the babies take to them. My daughter is considered an " older " baby she is 14 months old, her band doesn't bother her at all! > > Hi , > > Welcome to the group! Guest guest
Hi & welcome to our group: We're happy you have found us! We have an active member, Christi, Mya's mom who is currently wearing her 2nd DOCband. They are a military family who have Tricare insurance. The got Tricare's approval for their DOCband - they had to fight for it, but did receive coverage! Before this, Tricare pretty much denied coverage for bands....I'll send your email to Christi for her to reply to you her story. Where abouts is your son's head flat, left, right, back? Have you tried any type of repositioning to keep him off his flat spot? Check out www.plagiocephaly.org/support then " repositioning tips " for some great suggestions & tips. Your son is at a great younger age to still see improvement with repositioning alone. Have you scheduled an appt with a specialist yet? If not, to forewarn you, most of these specialists have a long wait to get in for an appt., often 4-8 wks. If they do have that long of a wait, I suggest request being placed on the cancellation list, that way if they have any cancelled appts before yours, they could call you to get you in faster. In the meantime however, defintiely give repositioning a try. It is a tough job, but the results (a rounder head) would be so worth it. Best of luck to you & your son. Sorry to hear of another uneducated plagio pediatrician, at least though he did refer you to a specialist already. Keep us posted on your progres & appt . - I'm gonna contact Christi, the other Tricare mom about you! Actually the DOCband is very light weight, it's only like .6 oz or somewhere around there, very very light. Everyone told me my daughter wouldn't mind the band on her head, they were right! Thankfully. She even slept normal in it - thank goodness! Debbie Abby's mom DOCGrad MI
