Project KNOWLEDGE (1st series) includes 12 workshops designed to educate parents, professionals, and any individual interested in gaining more knowledge on various disability topics. The purpose of the 1st series is to map out the steps necessary to carry a parent through earlier childhood to an adult life for a child with a disability. Our target population is families, new to current parents of a child with a disability, professionals or anyone who wishes to gain more knowledge on the subject. Our motivation is to provide information to increase parent involvement in school, promote proper attitudes, enable the development of supports, an understanding of the laws that protect disability, empower the parent approach with knowledge, and provide the beginnings of a foundation that will prepare a parent and encourage life opportunities for their children.
