Guest guest
So how did the soil turn out? I've been meaning to offer to get some soil for you up near Belle Glade. There are some areas where they have organic fields. Elise I used two types: Myakka (the official soil/sand of Florida) dug from about 8 " down, black, organic, and some from different parts of my yard (type unknown) very organic, black. The IFAS rep who awarded my yard the Florida Yards designation in 03 said she really liked my soil - I had been working on it for 10 years at that time. Miami Shores has pockets of acid soil, very odd, eh? My pH is around 7.5 in parts. It's the organic matter, microorganisms and I guess the gasses that give soil it's scent for the most part - do you agree? I did about six recharges. Have enough to last me a long time. What does it smell like? Well, earthy ;-) sort of flinty, and mellow, like squishy mud after a rain. -- Anya Anya's Garden http://AnyasGarden.com - perfumes, aromatics, classes, consultation Natural Perfumers Guild + blog with daily updates http://NaturalPerfumersGuild.blogspot.com 1500+ member Natural Perfumery group - http://health./group//

Has anyone experimented with co tinctures? the balance would have to be right so one would not counter react the other so there would be a seamless marriage. I think, though, I need to spend more time smelling dirt. I do nesting bird surveys in the rice fields up by the lake and when the rice has seeded and is ready for harvest there's a lovely smell of wet soil, ripened seeds, dry grass and water.
