Guest guest
My son, a confirmed malabsorber, is 95th percentile in all areas. It sounds like your son is responding well to fish oil but there may be more gut healing needed. I say that as a mom and not an expert. My kid has a milk issue (his eczema is gone too). Fish oil only helped with sensory stuff and he never regressed so it may not even have helped with that or his gut could have healed more since the fish oil. Don't know. I would ask about probiotics based on the antibiotic history. I took antibiotics with my son in utero and he was on IV antibiotics at 5 mos for a UTI. We use an infant probiotic (started it a few weeks ago) and other days he takes the kirkman chewable. He always pooped too much and lost nutrients. Off milk that stopped but we knew from that poop his gut was in bad shape. The probiotic gives a nice even consistency. It often stinks coming out but I think that is a healing sign based on the improvements, both sensory and speech that we have seen from the probiotic alone. It does drum up yeast but we have not treated that. It was a huge find for us as there was a point, on fish oil and off milk, where he regressed talking and now we have a talkative, happy, funny and in context kid. Imagine what will happen next week when he can see better with his new glasses? The kid amazes me daily. I am so proud of him and hope to find more things to lessen the burden he has been carrying around. A lot for a 2 year old. > > Hi all, > Alot of you talk about your kids not absorbing the nutrients and so on. Are many of your kids small for age or short in stature? My son who is intolerant of milk (the eczema finally going away finally confirmed that after removing it), is actually off the charts for his height and weight. He has the low tone, especially truncal and oral and severe apraxia, he does not speak at all just sounds. He gropes alot when it is the two of us but can't get anything out. He is 39 lbs and 39 inches and he will be 3 in December. I have been giving him 1 ProEfa NN a day since July. He still has no words but since July he has went from MMM to MMMaa, ah, buh, eh and ha. He can also now blow out candles and whistles with less effort and the motor planning issus are better. But still no words. > > My questions are could he still be one whose gut is bad? and he how much fish oil a day? > He definetely always had bowel problems he would go from diarrhea to constipation alot and he was on an antibiotic from the time he was 6 weeks old to almost 2 years old. This year alone he was on 7 of them. Any suggestions are appreciated. > > > > > __________________________________________________ >

Guest guest
, You may want to speak with www.kellydorman.com. It would be worth your money to speak with her. My son is two and also quite tall for his age, 27 months. He has made tremendous changes in over 2 months since starting the vitamins. Dorman is an excellent nutritionist. I am giving my son 3 NN Compete 3/6/9 with Borage Oil. 800 iu of Vitamin E, ThreeLac Probiotic and Phospaline along with Multivitamin. That is what I started with. Also seeing a DAN! Doc. Thanks, Colleen [ ] Absorption Hi all, Alot of you talk about your kids not absorbing the nutrients and so on. Are many of your kids small for age or short in stature? Guest guest
Hi, we used Dorfman when we were in MD but didn't find her so useful even though she has an awesome reputation. In our case I was a little concerned that she didn't base any recommendations for our son on testing although other nutritonists like Dana Laake do recommend testing. She also prescribed Piracetam for our son which I was shocked to discover was a prescription drug which we had to get by an odd route shipping it from the UK from a bodybuilding supplements magazine. I am sure others are very positive about her advice but it didn't work for us. catherine. (mom to Nic, 11, severe semantic-pragmatic language disorder, APD, SID, severe dyspraxia, hypotonia) __________________________________________________
