Guest guest
Yes. Saffron attar with a small amount of labdanum resin and an even smaller amount of blond tabac. Smells like a new leather jacket! Saffron attar: 30 drops Labdanum resin: 4 drops Blond tabac: 1 drop I add two drops of civet tincture to it too, which adds something very wonderful to it, but even without the addition of the civet the accord above is so wonderful and leathery. Africa Stone Tincture would I imagine add something nice too, but I've not tried it yet. Alfred in San Francisco today Alfred
Guest guest
Choya Loban with Cedarmoss and Costus-totally leather! Actually Choya Loban even by itself is quite leathery. I got the animal essences kit from Profumo a while ago. I had to experience the animal essences. It has Ambergris, Civit, Hyrax, Castoreum, and Beeswax. The Castoreum smells just like leather too, with a warm sexy note to it. It's the only essence in the kit I like by itself. I would wear it by itself, maybe with the aformentioned essences to make a super leather fragrance.

Everytime I've played with it, anything I've mixed ends up smelling like a barn or a zoo in the end-not at all like leather! I know its often recommended for leathery notes, but I just don't see why. Saffron I can actually see, and labdanum too. I have saffron abs and not attar, so I wonder if that will make a differnce? I will experiment though. I would reccomend trying the Africa Stone rather than Civit, but Castoreum is so much better as a leather note than either of those. It basically smells like leather. On the Profumo website Africa Stone tincure is described as smelling like a combination of Civit and Castoreum, and I would have to agree, but to my nose there is something really dusty and musty about it as well. But still, there is a bit of the Castoreum's leathery notes in it, so it would work I think.

Guest guest
What's cedarmoss? Sounds wonderful. Alfred in San Francisco at the moment I guess its a variety of oakmoss, except gathered from cedar trees I imagine. I find the scent much softer and mellower than the oak moss I have. The oakmoss I have, when I got it, seemed to smell strongly of celery to me. I read that oakmoss is supposed to get better with age, so I put it away. It has mellowed a bit, but that celery note is still there a bit. The cedarmoss is basically solid, though, so its a bit hard to work with, I have to chip it off to use it. I tried putting on my space heater, to soften it, it worked, but it was really sticky and resolidified quickly. I got it from Liberty Naturals.
