Guest guest
I just have to ask, aren't your bugs worse biters than ours???? I always wanted to go to Australia and wouldn't you know I get my info from the learning channel that focuses on all the deadly bugs and snakes LOL...... I just sort of wanted to know if moms and dads just teach the wee ones 'stay a way from bugs and don't eat scorpions'....
Guest guest
We do have some pretty good bugs...but you musn't forget that they only bite if you actually tread on them or pick them up...we're wy to big as a food source, so they will only bite in self defence. At the end of the day your more at risk being run over or mugged in the city. BTW if you cook them, scorpions are quite edible it seems....grin! Hi Selkie, I live in a suburb of Perth, which is the most isolated capital city in the world,so I'm a city girl. The only thing I warn my children about is red back spiders. But if we go bush they are warned about snakes. I was told, by a man who knew about snakes, never to let small children run ahead of you when walking, and to make a lot of noise. Most snakes are timid and the noise will frighten them away. The worst time is spring when snakes are just waking up, because they can be a bit sluggish and find it difficult to move quickly. I would be very worried up north because of crocs - now that they are something to warn anyone about. Here's some info about my state, if you are interested http://tinyurl.com/68k3s2 http://www.about-australia.com/wa/waatt.htm http://www.pbase.com/mdejong/perth_and_western_australia And this map is quite interesting http://www.getaboutoz.com/driving.htm Virginia West Aussie
